Your Content Pool is the collection of articles available for your next newsletter. This article covers what you can do there: review articles, feature ones you want to promote, add your own, and refine before sending.

How to get there

Go to Content → Content Pool in the sidebar. You'll see every article that's been pulled from your sources and is eligible for your upcoming newsletter.

What you'll see

The Content Pool has six filters at the top:

  • Search
  • All Sources
  • All Publishers
  • All Source Types
  • All Topics
  • Active

Use these to narrow down what you're looking at. For example, if you have hundreds of articles, filter by Source or Topic to focus on a slice.

Featuring articles

To promote an article so it gets priority placement, click the up arrow icon. Featured articles:

  • Get priority in newsletter content selection
  • Can be used as your Featured Article for the subject line
  • Show a highlighted yellow indicator in the Content Pool

You can also feature entire Sources in Content → Sources. When a source is featured, all its articles are automatically featured.

Editing an article

Click any article to open the Edit Article side panel. You can adjust:

  • Image — change the article's image
  • Title
  • Publisher
  • Section — assign the article to a section
  • Description — what your subscribers see
  • Schedule — Start Date and End Date for when this article should be eligible to appear (great for time-sensitive content)
  • Custom Tags — your own internal tags (helps rasa.io's AI understand the article better)
  • Source link — the original URL

The auto-generated Tags are read-only — they're how the AI categorizes the article.

Adding your own content

Manually adding an article to the Content Pool: You can add a one-off article directly to your Content Pool by clicking Add Article. This isn't the same as featuring or scheduling — you're just adding it as a regular article in the pool, eligible for inclusion like any other article.

Scheduled content lets you add articles, images, or text that are guaranteed to appear in specific sections between specific dates:

  • Scheduled Articles (Content → Scheduled → Articles) — articles you want to appear in a specific section between specific dates
  • Scheduled Images (Content → Scheduled → Images) — banners or squares for specific locations in your layout
  • Scheduled Text (Content → Scheduled → Text) — text blocks (rich text or HTML)

Scheduled content uses Start Date and End Date so the content shows up only during the dates you specify.

The cutoff window

When your scheduled send time gets close, rasa.io stops automatically pulling new content from your sources. This is the Cutoff Offset — typically about 4 hours before send.

When you're inside the cutoff window, a banner appears at the top of the Content Pool letting you know. You can still manually add or edit content during this time, but rasa.io won't be pulling anything new on its own.

Article counts and why your newsletter might not generate

Your newsletter has Article Counts settings (in Newsletter → Content tab) that define:

  • Min count — the fewest articles needed to send
  • Max count — the most articles allowed
  • Max per source — how many articles from any single source

If your Content Pool doesn't have enough active articles to hit the Min count by send time, the newsletter won't generate. You'll get a notification so you can add content before it's too late.

Quick checklist before a send

  • ☐ Review the Content Pool to make sure articles look right
  • ☐ Feature any high-priority articles
  • ☐ Check that you have at least the Min count of active articles
  • ☐ Use filters to scan for anything off-topic or inappropriate
  • ☐ Toggle off any articles you don't want to include — anything in your Content Pool before a send is eligible to be selected, so deactivate anything you don't want going out
  • ☐ If you're using sections, make sure articles are assigned to the right section so they appear in the right place in the newsletter
