rasa.io supports content in multiple languages. This article explains what enabling a language does, which ones are supported, and how to configure them.

Supported languages

rasa.io's AI engine supports:

  • English
  • Spanish
  • French
  • German
  • Portuguese

If most of your content is in one of these languages, enable that language for proper AI processing.

What enabling a language does

Enabling a language affects how rasa.io's AI engine processes content — it doesn't translate your UI, your footer text, or your subscriber-facing pages.

Specifically, with a language enabled:

  • AI topic tagging works correctly for content in that language
  • AI personalization can match the right articles to the right subscribers based on topic
  • Content from sources in that language ingests reliably

Without a language enabled, content in that language can still come in, but:

  • Topic tagging may fail
  • Articles may be inconsistently classified
  • Some articles may even be marked Inactive automatically because the AI can't process them

Setting up languages (two levels)

Languages work in two levels:

1. Organization level (Settings → Languages)

Choose which languages are available across your whole account.

  • Open Settings → Languages
  • Toggle on each language your organization uses
  • English is enabled by default

2. Newsletter level (Newsletter → Tools → Languages)

Each newsletter then opts into a subset of the org-enabled languages.

  • Open the newsletter and go to Tools → Languages
  • Pick the languages this specific newsletter uses
  • A newsletter can only use languages that are first enabled at the org level

When you need this

You need to think about languages if:

  • Your sources publish in a non-English language
  • You have subscribers in multiple linguistic markets
  • You're sending different language versions to different segments

Most US-based clients with English content can leave the default settings and never touch this.

Common questions

"My subscribers are international — do I need to enable other languages?"

Only if your content is in those languages. Languages affect how rasa.io's AI processes article content, not subscriber location.

"I added a Spanish source but articles aren't being tagged properly."

Make sure Spanish is enabled at both the org level (Settings → Languages) and the newsletter level (Newsletter → Tools → Languages).

"Will enabling a language translate my emails?"

No. Languages affect how rasa.io's AI processes content — it doesn't translate emails, UI, or footer text.

"What about other languages besides the five supported?"

You can still add sources in other languages, but AI tagging and personalization may not work reliably. Reach out to support@rasa.io if your use case involves a different language.
