Segments [ENTERPRISE ONLY]

What are Segments?

Segments allow you to target specific groups within your audience and send content tailored to their interests. It is an easy way to get content for specific groups within your subscriber list of your newsletter. By using segments, you can ensure that the right people receive the most relevant content in your newsletters, increasing engagement and relevance.

How to Import Your Segments via CSV

To import your segments, you need to prepare a CSV file with the following columns:

email first_name last_name segment_code
  • The Segment Code column is essential for categorizing your contacts into specific groups.
  • During the contact upload process, you will map this column to the corresponding segment codes.
  • Ensure that segment codes match an existing segment in your dashboard or create new ones before uploading.

Segment Code Definitions:

  • All → Everyone in your subscriber list.
  • No Code → Any subscriber that is not assigned to a segment.

Adding Scheduled Content with Segments

When scheduling content, you will see a dropdown menu where you can select the segments for which the content is intended. This allows you to target specific groups with tailored messages.

Segmenting on the Source Level

You can apply segments directly at the source level. This ensures that your content is specifically targeted to the right audience based on the segment(s) you select.

Segmented Preview

Before sending out your newsletter, you can preview how content will appear for different segments. This helps ensure the right message is going to the right audience.

Filtered Analytics by Segment

Use the segmented data in Analytics to see how different groups are engaging with your content. This allows you to refine your strategy based on the performance of specific segments.

Pro Tip

While segmenting your audience is useful, be mindful not to over-segment your newsletter. Too many small segments can limit the effectiveness of the AI, which thrives on delivering more generalized content. For the best results, consult with your Customer Success (CS) representative on how to use segmentation effectively.
